Savy King 'Stable' in Hospital After Collapsing During Angel City's NWSL Match
Savy King is in stable condition and will be undergoing further medical evaluation after collapsing on the field during Angel City's match against the Utah Royals on Friday.
The NWSL said in a statement that King "remains stable" after being transported to a local hospital by EMS and she will undergo more testing.
Per the Associated Press, King received medical attention on the field for about 10 minutes after collapsing midway through the second half before being loaded onto a stretcher and transported to a hospital.
Players and coaches for both teams gathered in the middle of the field after the end of the match with their heads bowed in an apparent moment of prayer for King.
Eleri Earnshaw, who was acting as Angel City's coach on Friday with interim head coach Sam Laity serving a suspension, told reporters after the game that King's family and the club's medical staff were with her at the hospital.
King is in her first season with Angel City after being traded by Bay FC in February. She has appeared in each of the club's first eight games this season. The North Carolina alum has also played for Team USA's U-17 and U-20 teams.
