Yankees vs. Athletics Betting Odds, Player Props and Picks for May 9

Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees get their first crack at hitting at Sutter Health Park, the temporary home of the Athletics, on Friday night.

The ballpark in Sacramento has yielded 45 home runs, the 10th-most of any MLB ballpark. 

Four of the last six games played in Sacramento featured a double-digit run total. That trend has a high chance of extending into Friday with Will Warren and Osvaldo Bido on the mound.

Aaron Judge Over 0.5 RBI (-110) 

It’s becoming more difficult to bet on Aaron Judge props at good prices. 

It’s hard to justify any player at +160 to hit a home run. His total bases prop is up to over/under 2.5 from the normal over/under 1.5. 

However, there is value in Judge’s RBI prop at -110.

The Yankees are facing Osvaldo Bido, who allowed 23 hits and 11 earned runs across his three home starts. Right-handers are also hitting .329 versus Bido, which sets up nicely for Judge.

Tyler Soderstrom Home Run (+425) 

Left-handed hitters have a .280 batting average against Yankees starter Will Warren.

Three of the four home runs allowed by Warren came against left-handed hitters. 

By that logic, Tyler Soderstrom is an ideal candidate to hit a ball out of the park from the A’s lineup. 

Eight of Soderstrom’s nine home runs have come against right-handed pitchers, and although he hasn’t hit a home run since April 17, the left-handed slugger is on a five-game hitting streak. 

It feels like a matter of time before Soderstrom breaks his home run drought, and Friday’s matchup is ideal for that.

Over 11 (+100) 

Bido and Warren each enter Friday with ERAs over 4.70.

Warren’s two worst outings of the young season came on the road, while Bido’s worst start was in Sacramento. 

The Yankees have had three double-digit run outbursts in the last two weeks. Five of the last six A’s games in Sacramento featured one or more teams with five-plus runs. 

The over is high at 11 runs, but there’s enough firepower on both sides for it to hit.
