Sue Bird Says 'TBD' on Caitlin Clark Potentially Making USA Olympic Roster in 2028
Sue Bird has not committed to giving Caitlin Clark a spot on the 2028 United States Olympic roster just yet.
Bird, the women's basketball managing director for Team USA, joked on the Dan Patrick Show that she'll have to evaluate closer to time.
"I mean, you know, TBD, we've got three years," Bird said.
While a lot can happen before the Olympics in 2028, it's probably safe to say that Bird will end up including Clark on the roster as the United States goes for another gold medal.
Clark was not on the Olympic roster in 2024 as the team was instead more veteran-heavy.
Clark followed up her outstanding collegiate career at Iowa with a strong rookie season in 2024. The first pick in the 2024 draft posted 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game on her way to winning the Rookie of the Year award. She helped lead the Indiana Fever to the postseason for the first time since 2016.
She'll look to put together another strong year in 2025 as she lobbies for a spot on Bird's roster.
