USWNT's Mallory Swanson, Cubs' Dansby Swanson Announce Pregnancy in IG Photos

United States women's national team star Mallory Swanson and Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson announced Wednesday they're expecting their first child together.

Mallory called it "our greatest blessing."

The news perhaps helps to explain why the Chicago Stars forward was absent for the start of the 2025 NWSL season. The club only cited personal reasons in March for why she didn't participate in the preseason and wouldn't be available moving forward.

Swanson's pregnancy will also sideline her for the USWNT's upcoming fixtures. The U.S. has five friendlies scheduled through July.

Dansby, meanwhile, has appeared in 37 games for the Cubs. He's batting .240 with seven home runs, 20 RBI and a .445 slugging percentage. His team is leading the National League Central at 22-16.

The Swansons were married in December 2022 after having dated since 2017. They've both called the Windy City home ever since Dansby signed with the Cubs shortly after their wedding.
