Deebo Samuel Praised by Commanders GM After Trade, Says WR Can 'Will You to Win'
Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters was familiar with the type of player Deebo Samuel was long before the team traded for him.
Peters, gearing up for his second season with the Commanders, was the vice president of player personnel and later the assistant general manager for the San Francisco 49ers and was partially responsible for drafting Samuel in 2019.
Peters' familiarity with Samuel made trading for the receiver in March an easy decision.
“Knowing Deebo from when we drafted him to just the competitor he is — he is one of the best competitors on the field that I’ve ever seen in my life,” Peters said on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday. “He could put a team on his back and will you to win.”
Samuel, 29, recorded 670 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 15 games a year ago. The former All-Pro receiver is looking to get back to the best version of himself, and playing alongside a star quarterback in the making in Jayden Daniels should help.
Peters is counting on Samuel to help Washington take another leap after an outstanding 12-5 season that saw the Commanders make a run to the NFC Championship game.
