Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele Among 2025 PGA Championship Field

Reigning 2025 Masters champion Rory McIlroy leads the 144-player field that was revealed Tuesday for the 2025 PGA Championship.

Defending PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele, world No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler and past PGA Championship winners such as Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Phil Mickelson, Collin Morikawa and Jason Day were announced as part of the field as well.

The 2025 PGA Championship will take place at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, beginning on May 15.

Along with top PGA Tour players, several top stars from LIV Golf will play in the PGA Championship as well, including Koepka, Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Patrick Reed and Dustin Johnson.

Johnson is a two-time major champion, but since he has never won the PGA Championship, he required a special invitation to be part of the field.

DJ had been gaining an exemption into the PGA Championship for the past five years thanks to his 2020 Masters win, but now that the exemption has run out, he had to find another way in.

McIlroy, 36, is fresh off arguably the biggest win of his career, as he completed the career Grand Slam last month by winning the Masters.

The Northern Irishman nearly blew a big lead in the final round, but he regrouped and beat Justin Rose in a playoff.

It was McIlroy's first major title of any kind since 2014, and he is now set to go for his third PGA Championship win and sixth major title overall at Quail Hollow.

Last year, Schauffele finally shook the label of being arguably the best active player without a major title, as he held off DeChambeau to win the 2024 PGA Championship by one stroke.

Schauffele parlayed that into a huge year overall, as he also won the 2024 Open Championship.

While the 2025 PGA Championship field is mostly set, the winners of this week's Truist Championship and Myrtle Beach Classic will also qualify for next week's major in Charlotte.
