Quinn Ewers' Agent Reveals 'Chickens--t' Reasoning from NFL Teams for QB's Draft Slide
While Shedeur Sanders' slide into the fifth round dominated the NFL draft headlines, he wasn't the only notable quarterback who went tumbling down draft boards.
Texas' Quinn Ewers ended up falling to the seventh round before the Miami Dolphins selected him.
Ewers' agent, Ron Slavin, told ESPN's Todd Archer for a Saturday article that he contacted "half the league" to further understand why the signal-caller dropped so far.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"They thought he was a third- or fourth-round pick, but too big of a name to be a clipboard holder," Slavin said. "Which I think is chickens--t."
Ewers is accustomed to being under the spotlight, as he was the No. 1 recruit in the 2021 class, per 247Sports' composite rankings. He chose a high-profile program in Ohio State and then transferred to another in Texas.
He led the Longhorns to back-to-back College Football Playoff semifinals appearances and threw for better than 3,400 yards in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
While he was never expected to be a top draft pick even after that career, he also wasn't expected to fall to the seventh round. B/R's NFL Scouting Department ranked him as the sixth-best quarterback in the draft in its final big board of prospects and ahead of players such as Tyler Shough, Kyle McCord, Riley Leonard and Dillon Gabriel.
Shough went in the second round, Gabriel went in the third round, and McCord and Leonard went in the sixth round.
For his part, Ewers seems to be taking it in stride and looking to the future.
"It's definitely a lot of motivation that comes with it, especially just being the last [quarterback] drafted," Ewers said. "I still have the high expectations for myself, but just from the outside looking in, this is the first time in my life to not have that much expectation. There's definitely motivation and fuel. A lot of it."
That is surely exactly what the Dolphins want to hear.
