Predicting When Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins WWE Mega Match Is Booked by Triple H

Although John Cena capturing his record-setting 17th world championship was the top talking point among fans in the wake of WrestleMania 41, Seth Rollins forming a new faction on the next night's Raw has quickly become WWE's biggest storyline for the spring season.

Rollins forming an unlikely alliance with Paul Heyman was already interesting, but the addition of Bron Breakker to their ranks makes matters infinitely more exciting. Making enemies out of Roman Reigns, CM Punk and Sami Zayn has given them plenty of opposition for the coming months as well.

Ultimately, all roads should lead to Reigns vs. Rollins having their mega match that fans were deprived of in the main event of WrestleMania 41.

It's been nearly a decade since they last feuded or even faced off with Reigns as the babyface and Rollins as the heel. When that highly anticipated clash inevitably comes to fruition, it will be the culmination of a story that started with The Shield 13 years ago.

There's a number of different directions WWE can go in with the Heyman-backed group, but if Rollins vs. Reigns is the endgame, it's imperative Triple H and the creative team take their time getting there to ensure it's worth the wait.

No Need to Rush into It

Reigns and Rollins have been at odds on and off for years, so it isn't unreasonable for fans to assume their next singles match could be coming sooner rather than later, especially if they were already feuding going into WrestleMania 41 and after what happened on the subsequent Raw.

They could have a match on any night based on the vast amount of history they have and it wouldn't feel wasted. It isn't a first-time encounter, and they're bound to have more matches in the future.

With Reigns and Rollins being two of the top names in WWE today, though, that marquee match shouldn't be rushed into, at least as part of this program.

WWE breathed new life into their long-running rivalry by having Heyman betray Reigns and join forces with Rollins. That added a whole new layer to the story that makes their next one-on-one outing far more appealing than it would have been otherwise.

Punk, Heyman, Zayn and Breakker also being integral to this angle gives plenty more for WWE to explore before getting to that point.

Reigns' Return May Not Be Imminent

Reigns disappearing in the immediate aftermath of WrestleMania is far from a new phenomenon.

The last post-'Mania premium live event Reigns competed at was Backlash 2022, at which point it was announced he'd be working a reduced schedule going forward. In other words, his absence from the Backlash 2025 card is hardly surprising, and he shouldn't be expected for Money in the Bank on June 7, either.

Per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is building toward Reigns and CM Punk vs. Rollins and Bron Breakker in tag team action this summer. Money in the Bank is a possibility, but the show being in roughly one month leaves little time for Reigns and Punk to put their differences aside and become partners again, making SummerSlam the better bet.

Rollins recently starting a storyline with Sami Zayn indicates that's who The Visionary will be busy with for the foreseeable future, and between Reigns and Punk, the latter would be back in the mix first.

Reigns having a role on the post-WrestleMania Raw was a pleasant surprise, but the longer he's away from WWE TV, the more meaningful his eventual return will be, much like at last year's SummerSlam.

First Feuding with Bron Breakker

Despite the previous report, the tag team match shouldn't be what WWE begins booking toward once Reigns returns, if only because Rollins might be occupied with another opponent at SummerSlam.

After Rollins runs through Zayn, ideally at Money in the Bank, he should set his sights on world heavyweight champion Jey Uso. With the amount of momentum The Visionary has as a heel at the moment, he's the perfect person to dethrone Uso when the time comes.

Rollins vs. Uso would be best suited for SummerSlam, and if Reigns is going to be involved in the event in a different capacity, Bron Breakker should be the man he battles instead.

The two-time intercontinental champion laid a brutal beating on Reigns on the post-WrestleMania Raw, and it stands to reason The Tribal Chief will want revenge. That should be his first order of business before rekindling his rivalry with Rollins.

Reigns wouldn't necessarily need to win, either. A clean loss to Breakker on a stage such as SummerSlam would help cement the second-generation star's status as a main event player and only add to The OTC's growing vulnerability.

Booking the Big Tag Team Match

The tag team match is a must this year, and with SummerSlam potentially out of the question, Clash in Paris on August 31 would make the most sense.

As noted, Reigns losing to Breakker would put him in a position to redeem himself and resort to reluctantly asking Punk for assistance, just in time for a tag team match at the European pay-per-view later in the month.

Clash at the Paris is an event where Rollins—assuming he wins the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam—wouldn't have to defend his title. Taking part in a tag team contest would be acceptable, specifically if it's as star-studded as suggested and if the Undisputed WWE Championship is up for grabs on that same show.

The outcome is irrelevant, though Reigns and Punk proving they can work as a cohesive unit by picking up the victory would arguably be the best-case scenario so Rollins and Breakker aren't completely dominant throughout the feud.

WWE could then transition into Reigns vs. Rollins, but there's only one event where the pay-off would be most appropriate.

Waiting Until WrestleMania 42 for Reigns vs. Rollins

In an alternate timeline, Rollins and Reigns would have had their long-awaited WrestleMania main event this year in Las Vegas while CM Punk challenged Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship and John Cena was in action elsewhere on the card.

Rollins and Reigns have had countless clashes over the course of their careers, but there has yet to be a formal resolution to their rivalry. That should come at next year's installment of The Show of Shows in New Orleans on April 11-12.

Rollins played a part in the demise of Reigns and The Bloodline as a whole at WrestleMania 40. The Visionary also stole the prestigious prize from The OTC via an opportunistic Money in the Bank cash-in at WrestleMania 31.

It's high time The Tribal Chief got one over on his adversary on a major stage for the first time.

Reigns being betrayed by everyone he's ever been aligned with, including Rollins, will make him a bigger babyface in the long run. They can't have their reunion without first settling their score, and WrestleMania 42 should be where Reigns gives Rollins his comeuppance and ends this chapter of their story.
