Aleksander Barkov has defended his title as the NHL's best two-way forward.

Barkov was honored with the 2024-25 Frank J. Selke Trophy as "the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game," with the award coming as a surprise announcement alongside his teammates.

He also won the Clancy Award for his leadership and humanitarian contributions.

This is the third time Barkov has taken home the Selke Trophy. He claimed the award in both 2021 and 2024, and also finished as a finalist in 2022.

Barkov recorded 20 goals while leading his team with 51 assists in 67 games for the Panthers in 2024-25.

He averaged 15:28 at even strength and 1:31 on the penalty kill, contributing a goal and three assists while shorthanded to help the Panthers kill off 80.7 percent of penalties last season.

Barkov also paced his teammates with 34 takeaways while marking a 56.5 win rate at the face-off dot, marking the eighth straight season during which he has won at least 53 percent of his draws.

Barkov's teammate, Sam Reinhart, also finished as a finalist for the award. The Panthers forwards were the first teammates to finish a season as Selke Trophy finalists since the Detroit Red Wings' Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg in 2008.
