The fastest three-year-old horses in the world will compete in the 151st Kentucky Derby on Saturday.

Nineteen horses are entered into the field for the first leg of the Triple Crown.

Journalism is currently the favorite to take home the Run for the Roses. He was the horse in the buildup to the Derby.

Race Preview

Journalism is the best horse on paper in the 19-horse field.

The pre-race favorite has four victories to his name and starts from Post No. 8, a position that's produced three Derby winners in the last 19 years.

Journalism's biggest contenders appear to be Sandman and Sovereignty.

Both of those horses start in outside post positions amid a handful of longshots.

Luxor Cafe is the popular horse at the moment. The Japanese horse is the son of Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, and as of early Saturday afternoon, he has the fourth-best odds to win the Derby.

American Promise, a son of Justify, and Publisher, another son of American Pharoah, are the only horses in the field with Triple Crown pedigrees in their bloodlines.

The Derby field also features one horse trained by six-time Derby winner Bob Baffert. Citizen Bull is viewed as a long-shot to win, but if you're looking for an outside-the-box pick, his trainer has the most extensive Derby-winning background.

Journalism is clearly the best horse in the field, and no one would bat an eyelash if he comes away from Churchill Downs as the horse that chases the Triple Crown.
