Jim Harbaugh Says He Woke Up 1 Morning Determined to Get Justin Herbert to NFL HOF

Timothy RappMay 2, 2025

Los Angeles Rams head coach Jim Harbaugh revealed a lofty goal he has for Justin Herbert's career while speaking about the playmakers the team added on the offensive side of the ball during this year's NFL draft.

"[We drafted] guys for Justin to get the ball to. I just woke up the other day and said, 'I've got to get Justin Herbert to the Hall of Fame. Must get Justin Herbert to the Hall of Fame.' ... It was just one of those things where you wake up, 3:30, four in the morning, and sometimes that's when your best ideas come," Harbaugh said during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show Friday. "You kinda process that, that would mean winning a couple Super Bowls, and a lot of people would benefit form that, so that's a worthy goal. And I think it's necessary that we get him surrounded with as many good football players, at his level, as possible."

The Chargers drafted running back Omarion Hampton, wideouts Tre Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith, tight end Oronde Gadsden II and offensive lineman Branson Taylor at the draft, continuing to rebuild the offense in the mold of Harbaugh's preferred ground-and-pound style.

With Ladd McConkey coming off a fantastic rookie season, Quentin Johnston finally showing some of the promise that made him a first-round pick in 2023 and Najee Harris signed in free agency, Herbert will have some improved weapons at his disposal. Consider it the next chapter in what Harbaugh is hoping will be a Hall of Fame career.
