Chiefs 2025 NFL Schedule Released as Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce's Super Bowl Push

Scott PolacekMay 14, 2025

The Kansas City Chiefs' seemingly annual path to the Super Bowl is now laid out in front of them.

Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Andy Reid and Co. have been to five of the last six Super Bowls, including each of the last three. They have taken home three Lombardi Trophies during that span, including in back-to-back years during the 2022 and 2023 campaigns, but will be trying to return to the top of the mountaintop in 2025.

After all, they just lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl and may have something of a collective chip on their shoulder as they begin a new season.

And here is a look at what the slate will look like for that new season.

Analysis

There is no shortage of marquee games on the Chiefs' 2025 schedule.

A Super Bowl rematch with the Eagles immediately jumps out, but facing the entire NFC East also means having to go up against Jayden Daniels and a Washington Commanders team that just reached the conference title game a season ago.

Kansas City also has a first-place schedule, which means it will need to face the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills. That means showdowns between Mahomes, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen in games that could feature plenty of offensive fireworks.

Throw in a potential Super Bowl preview against the Detroit Lions, and that first-place schedule makes things far more difficult for the reigning AFC champions.

Being in the AFC West is no picnic either, as the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers were both playoff teams last season.

The Chiefs can at least take solace knowing they face the entire AFC South as something of a break in an otherwise daunting schedule. Every team but the Houston Texans finished with a losing record in 2024, and Kansas City defeated the Texans in the regular season and playoffs.

Kansas City will play 10 games against teams that reached the playoffs a season ago, so it will once again need to earn its place among the league's elite.

Pivotal Matchups

From a fan interest standpoint, the NFC matchups against the Eagles, Lions and Commanders jump off the page as potential Super Bowl previews. They will surely draw significant ratings and interest, but the high-profile AFC games are far more important for Kansas City's overall goals.

After all, the Bills and Ravens each figure to be among the biggest threats for the conference's No. 1 seed and the first-round bye and home-field advantage that come with that.

The Chiefs landed that No. 1 seed and took care of business at home to reach another Super Bowl last season during a playoff run that included a victory over Allen's Buffalo squad in the AFC Championship Game.

Defeating Baltimore and Buffalo in 2025 is Kansas City's best path to ensuring such an AFC Championship Game is once again at home.

The head-to-head games against the Broncos and Chargers will also be important in the effort to clinch an unbelievable 10th consecutive AFC West crown.
