Report: Lawrence Wants Out of NY

Re-Drafting Every Team's Worst Draft Pick of the Century 😡
The Jags paid a major price to move up to the No. 2 selection for Hunter, sending the No. 5 overall pick, a second-rounder (No. 36), a fourth-rounder (No. 126) and a 2026 first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns. Jacksonville also received a fourth-rounder (No. 104) and a sixth-round selection (No. 200).
"There are players that you can target and acquire who alter the trajectory of a game. There are players that you can target and acquire that alter the trajectory of a football team," first-time general manager James Gladstone said on the team's draft show after selecting Hunter. "There are very few, and it's rare to be able to target and prioritize a player who can alter the sport itself. And Travis is somebody that we view has the potential to do that."
The question, of course, is just how Hunter will split his time between offense and defense in the NFL after playing full-time both ways at Colorado en route to a Heisman Trophy this past season. The general consensus has been that he'll likely spend the majority of his time on one side of the ball and have a few packages drawn up for him on the other.
If that indeed ends up being the setup, it sounds as though more of his initial focus will be at wide receiver, though time will tell.
"His intent is on playing both sides of the ball, as is ours," Gladstone said during an ESPN draft broadcast. "When it comes to his onboarding process we’ll give him a heavy dose of offense, and sprinkle in the defensive side of the ball, knowing that by the time we get to the regular season, those should be balanced out. But that's the initial onboarding plan as it stands today."
That means Trevor Lawrence will now have a dynamic duo at wide receiver, with Hunter joining second-year dynamo Brian Thomas Jr., who caught 87 passes for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns in his rookie season. The team also signed deep threat Dyami Brown this offseason and still has Gabe Davis, giving them a solid stable of weapons in the passing game.
