Las Vegas Raiders rookie running back Ashton Jeanty is officially set to become the next face of the franchise.

Jeanty is one of the most dynamic running backs to enter the NFL in quite some time. The former Boise State star finished second in the voting for the 2024 Heisman Trophy after rushing for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns, setting a single-season program record and falling just short of Barry Sanders' single-season FBS rushing record of 2,628 yards.
Jeanty is the first draft pick under the new Raiders regime, led by general manager John Spytek and head coach Pete Carroll. He's joining a budding offensive core that also includes second-year tight end Brock Bowers, wide receiver Jakobi Meyers and veteran quarterback Geno Smith, the latter of whom was acquired from the Seattle Seahawks and signed to a two-year contract extension earlier this offseason.
Las Vegas is coming off a disappointing 4-13 finish to the 2024 season, missing the playoffs for the third straight year and seventh time in the last eight seasons.
Jeanty's presence gives the Raiders a reason for optimism entering the 2025 campaign. Carroll will certainly enjoy building his offense around the young speedster as Las Vegas tries to return to playoff contention.
