Kyle McCord Got Prank Calls During NFL Draft Along with Shedeur Sanders, Tyler Warren

Andrew PetersApr 27, 2025

Shedeur Sanders and Tyler Warren weren't the only ones getting prank calls during the NFL Draft.

Philadelphia Eagles draft pick Kyle McCord said that he received several prank calls before finally being selected in the sixth round.

“I got a few prank calls earlier in the day from 609 numbers and 215 numbers,” he told reporters (8:00 mark). “I’m like, alright. When I got that 215 phone call, I was thinking it was just another prank call, but picking up the phone and having Howie (Roseman) on the other side was pretty cool."

Prank calls like those that McCord received were an unfortunate trend during this year's draft. Sanders, who was eventually drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round, received a prank call as he was waiting to be selected, and the moment was caught on camera.

In Sanders' case, the prank caller turned out to be connected to the son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich. Jax Ulbrich and the Falcons organization issued apologies after the matter:

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Falcons won't take action against their defensive coordinator but will evaluate protocols to avoid another situation like that which unfolded with Sanders.

Per Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz, Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren also got a prank call before he was drafted. The call came during the New York Jets' first-round selection, and Warren was taken seven picks later at No. 14. According to Schultz, Warren’s camp believes the call came from the "same number and/or area code" as the one Sanders received.

ESPN's Stephen Holder reported that "there are believed to be others" who were prank-called during the draft.

While the prank calls were likely frustrating and annoying for the players, they are ultimately not what will be remembered from one of the biggest moments of their lives.
