NFL Coach Predicts 'Physical as F--k' Mykel Williams to be Better Than Carter, Walker

Andrew PetersApr 21, 2025

Penn State's Abdul Carter and Georgia's Jalon Walker are the most popular pass rushers in this year's draft class, but another edge is getting some hype as Thursday's draft nears.

Per The Athletic's Bruce Feldman, one NFL defensive line coach predicted that Georgia's Mykel Williams will have a better career than both Carter and Walker, noting the 6'5", 265-pounder's physicality.

“I think he will have a better career than Jalon or Abdul,” the defensive line coach said. “He’s physical as f—. He played hurt this year — he didn’t care. Pullers come at him — he intends on f—ing them up. Guys I know at Georgia told me he’s gonna be better than Travon Walker, and I think Walker is a baller. Overall, I think he’s better than all of ’em.”

Williams, who played three years at Georgia, collected 21 tackles, five sacks and two forced fumbles in his final season with the Bulldogs despite spending much of he first half of the season dealing with an ankle injury.

Williams was especially dominant against Texas last year, picking up a pair of sacks in their September meeting and two sacks in the SEC championship game against the Longhorns.

Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department projects the Green Bay Packers to take Williams with the No. 23 pick in the draft.
