The Philadelphia Eagles selected Syracuse QB Kyle McCord with the No. 181 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Kyle McCord is a pocket quarterback who thrives on being well-timed and accurate with his passes.

McCord is a smart and intelligent prospect with a strong football IQ. He does a good job locating and attacking the mismatches or one-on-one matchups in his favor. He operates best in the quick passing game with good processing speeds and a quick release.

McCord does a good job identifying post-snap coverages and pre-snap blitzers. That's a big reason why he was so effective at defeating blitz packages all season. He will stand in the pocket and drop his throwing motion/arm angle to get the ball past defenders who are bearing down.

McCord throws accurately at every level of the field and uses his touch to layer passes over defenders when necessary. His passes are very catchable. He threw the ball with great timing and placement this season, creating opportunities for his receivers to make plays.

McCord has above-average arm strength to push the ball down the field. He has enough velocity to drive throws between the hashes in the short and intermediate levels of the field.

McCord flashes the ability to make accurate passes on the move when flushed out of the pocket. He keeps his eyes down the field to find someone breaking free from the coverage and working into the defensive void. He has good pocket presence and navigating skills. He will step up into the pocket and display the ability to evade free-running defenders.

However, McCord must improve his eye manipulation. He tends to stare down his preferred read—sometimes his initial one—post-snap. That will bring defenders into throwing lanes, making the attempt more difficult than it needs to be. Subtle eye movements and looking away will move defenders from the spot instead of bringing them to it.

McCord is good against the blitz, but pressure from three- and four-defender fronts gave him trouble this season. When pressured, his mechanics and decision-making go awry, and he loses composure. He begins to panic, and his turnover-worthy play rates increase.

McCord is a below-average athlete and should not be asked to create much on his own accord outside of his pocket. He will be run down by the backside-pursuing defenders.

Overall, McCord is an accurate pocket passer who made winning plays in 2024. He is best suited in a game-manager role for a West Coast offense. His ability to get the ball out quickly and operate the quick game with efficiency should help him to climb into a QB2 role behind an established veteran.
