Joe Huber NFL Draft 2025 Scouting Report for Minnesota Vikings IOL

The Minnesota Vikings added Wisconsin IOL Joe Huber as an undrafted free agent after the 2025 NFL draft.

Joe Huber is a three-year starter split between each guard spot and right tackle, including 12 starts at right guard in 2024 inside Wisconsin's balanced (54-46 run-pass split), zone-based run scheme with gap principles mixed in. Huber has thick limbs with adequate arm length, athletic ability and play strength.

Huber wins as a run-blocker by using solid mass and initial pop in his hands to cover up his target in the post on combination blocks with good strain, leg drive and effort to uproot his target off their spot. While he can get into his fit with good initial control, he shows lower-half stiffness with marginal lateral quickness that saps his ability to redirect and recover out of compromising positions. This leads to him falling off too many blocks and struggling to consistently finish.

In pass protection, Huber excels using jump sets to eliminate the runway of tightly aligned rushers when he can get his hands on quickly to elicit a bull rush, which he has the sand to anchor down on. His effectiveness takes a precipitous dip against sub-package and widely aligned rushers where he regularly drifts, oversets and creates two-way gos. He's also a tick late sorting through twists and stunts, which causes him to get picked and lose levels.

Overall, Huber has a thick build with some pop in his hands to uproot targets in the run game. However, his marginal body control/balance sap his sustain skills and ability to match up one-on-one in pass protection, which suggests he'll be a potential backup from the undrafted pool.
