Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Order Date Revealed; Latest on Pricing for Console, Accessories

Nintendo announced Friday that pre-orders for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 console will begin on April 24.

It was also revealed that the initially announced console price of $449.99 will remain the same, as will the price of the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World bundle at $499.99.

However, some adjustments have been made to the prices of Switch 2 accessories due to "changes in market conditions."

The market condition change likely refers to United States President Donald Trump's recent institution of tariffs on goods imported from China to the U.S.

Those tariffs currently sit at 145 percent, but Trump has threatened to raise the tariffs to as high as 245 percent due to "retaliatory actions," per Shane Croucher of Newsweek.

Nintendo originally announced the launch of the Switch 2 back in January, and additional details were provided earlier this month as part of a Nintendo Direct presentation.

During the presentation, Nintendo showed off several of the Switch 2's upcoming games, accessories and features, plus the official release date of June 5, 2025, was announced.

Pre-orders were supposed to begin on April 9, however, the tariffs caused a delay on that front.

In addition to the price of the console, notable Switch 2-related price points include $79.99 for Mario Kart World, $69.99 for Donkey Kong Bananza, $84.99 for a Switch 2 Pro Controller, $94.99 for a set of two Joy-Con Controllers and $54.99 for a Nintendo Switch 2 Camera.
