Johnson Injured in Scary Collision
Thursday, July 9
The Heat announced Johnson's diagnosis in a statement, adding he is expected to miss the remainder of the summer league.
The injury occurred during the third quarter of a game against the Los Angeles Clippers. There was a collision at midcourt as he ran into a screen, as noted by Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, and he was forced to exit the game.
Winderman stated a lot depends on if the jaw must be wired. If it doesn't need to be, he could be back eating solid food within a couple of days.
Johnson is battling Shabazz Napier for more playing time in the Heat backcourt next season after averaging 18.8 minutes per game as a rookie. An extended absence would hurt his cause.
