Cesaro Deserves Chance to Be Main Event Star in the WWE
Cesaro emerged as a commodity after the last two episodes of Monday Night Raw.
The strongman from Switzerland engaged in two bouts against John Cena, the United States champion. Cesaro almost became champion at the June 29 episode had it not been for Kevin Owens.
Owens interfered and gave a Pop-Up Powerbomb to each WWE Superstar, which cost Cesaro his opportunity to become champion.
A rematch between Cena and Cesaro in the following episode saw Cesaro interrupting a confrontation between Cena and Owens. He cut a heartfelt promo on both men, and it led to one of the best main events in Rawโs recent memory.
The match closed out the July 6 episode. After nearly 30 minutes, Cena retained his title by hitting an Attitude Adjustment on Cesaro from the top rope.
Cesaro failed in winning the U.S. title. But he succeeded in winning over the fans in Chicago and Cena himself.
After the show ended, Cena took the microphone and asked for Cesaro to return to the ring. Cena provided a public endorsement of Cesaro as a wrestler who can do things no one else can in the WWE. If thatโs not the utmost of compliments about a wrestler, nothing is.
Itโs time to face the facts. Cesaro and Cena put on a TV classic, and itโs clear Cesaroโs time to shine in the main event is now.
Cesaro deserves a chance to be a main event star in the WWE.
Granted, Cesaroโs performance still needs work to stay in the main event. He was flustered in his promo on Owens, but you canโt blame him. Chicago is a hot wrestling crowd, and he was standing between arguably the two hottest names in WWE.
Plus, Cesaro isnโt known for his skills on the microphone. Name one memorable Cesaro promo that happened before Mondayโs episode.
If you think back to his early days, this was the same guy WWE had yodeling. Unfortunately, yes, Cesaro yodeled. You canโt forget that.
He also became a Paul Heyman guy last year after winning the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. It didnโt go anywhere, which was a huge disappointment from a wrestling standpoint. Sometimes a great manager and great wrestler donโt mix.
Regardless of lacking character development, Cesaro still persevered. Subsequently, it led to him teaming with Tyson Kidd and them becoming the tag team champions earlier this year.
WWE Creative has faith in Cesaro to help other wrestlers. Heโs also proved he can make championships important again. However, evidence shows they might not have faith in Cesaro himself.
Where does Ceasro go from here? Itโs already a crowded main event scene with Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns in the title hunt. Sheamus is also waiting thanks to winning Money in the Bank. Even Cena and Owens should be considered main event attractions thanks to their WWE resumes.
Cesaro does have one thing going for him, though. Many of those names are all too familiar.
Cenaโs dominated the main event scene for years. Lesnar is not a full-time wrestler and Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns are vying for that top spot. Thereโs a vacancy in the main event picture.
This is Cesaroโs time to shine. He needs to capitalize on his momentum and show WWEโs Creative Team why he deserves to be in the main event. Frankly, it would be a missed opportunity if WWE didnโt give Cesaro that chance.
