WWE Ranks Top 50 WrestleMania Matches with The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels at No. 1

WWE completed its countdown of the top 50 matches in WrestleMania history on Wednesday, selecting The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 25 as the best ever.

The Deadman vs. The Heartbreak Kid beat out several other legendary bouts, including "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13, The Rock vs. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 18, "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat at WrestleMania 3 and The Rock vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin at WrestleMania 17, which rounded out the top five:

WrestleMania 25 marked the first time The Undertaker and Michaels ever clashed on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

While Taker and HBK had engaged in several classic encounters at other events previously, their WrestleMania 25 match was special since it pitted arguably the two greatest WrestleMania performers of all time against each other.

The Undertaker is synonymous with WrestleMania due to his undefeated streak, which stretched to 21-0 before he finally lost to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30.

Meanwhile, Michaels is known as Mr. WrestleMania thanks to his penchant for performing his best at the Showcase of the Immortals.

Undertaker and Michaels went back and forth in a highly entertaining and dramatic affair at WrestleMania 25, and there were several moments where it seemed as though the streak might end.

Ultimately, The Undertaker capitalized on an HBK mistake by catching his moonsault and hitting him with a Tombstone to win.

One year later, The Undertaker and Michaels met again in the main event of WrestleMania 26 in a Streak vs. Career match.

The Undertaker was victorious once more, bringing a fitting end to Michaels' legendary career in pro wrestling.

Now, The Undertaker and Michaels are both WWE Hall of Famers with key non-wrestling roles in the company, as Taker is among WWE's biggest ambassadors and Michaels molds the stars of tomorrow in NXT.

This weekend, WWE will look to produce more matches worthy of an addition to future lists of the greatest WrestleMania bouts of all time when WrestleMania 41 takes place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday and Sunday night.
