Jordan Brand Announces Air Rev Golf Shoes Inspired by Michael Jordan's Insights

Jordan Brand announced Monday its new Air Rev golf shoe, which was designed with help from NBA legend Michael Jordan.

"The future of golf isn’t tied to its past," Jordan said. "For the next generation, it's bolder and more modern. Jordan Brand Golf blends performance, innovation and iconic style, building a future where the players, not the past, define what's next."

The Jordan Brand Air Rev includes Air Zoom cushioning on the trail foot along with a Formula23 foam insert for the lead foot. The combination is supposed to help golfers balance their weight during their swing.

Because the Air Zoom and Formula23 cushions are movable, they can switch between the left and right shoes depending on who is wearing them.

Jordan Brand also brought something different to the table with the lacing, which uses a dial to help tighten or loosen the shoes. A strap also goes over the front to provide further stability.

"With Flight Lock, your trail foot works like a gas pedal, and your lead foot works like a brake," said Matt Plumb, Nike's director for men's sport footwear. "The containment system offers a proprioceptive feeling, a reminder to the athlete: 'When I swing back, I want to push off the Air Zoom unit on my trail foot.'"

The Air Rev will hit stores on May 14.
