2025 NFL Schedule Release Date Window Revealed by NFL Exec Ahead of NFL Draft

The NFL is looking to have the 2025 schedule finalized by mid-May.

Mike North, the league's vice president of broadcast planning, said this week on the It's Always Gameday in Buffalo podcast the NFL is tentatively considering May 13, 14 or 15 for the official release.

North explained the situation is fluid.

"No set date because, really, you never know," he said (via John Breech of CBS Sports). "If by some miracle, we're done on May 7 and we present one to the boss [Roger Goodell] and the commissioner says, 'Hey, this is perfect, I wouldn't change a thing, guys.' We're done. Pencils down. If so, probably no reason to sit on it."

It's not as though there are any major revelations when the schedule is rolled out. All 32 teams know who they're playing and where.

But the late spring and early summer are a dead periods for the NFL. The draft has concluded and we're not yet far enough into training camp to gain any insight from positional battles.

The schedule release is at least a date fans can circle on their calendars, and the occasion has gained in popularity thanks to the elaborate videos teams produce.

For now, two things are assured when it comes to the specifics of the 2025 regular season. The reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles will kick off the new campaign on Sept. 4, and the Los Angeles Chargers are heading to São Paulo, Brazil, for a game on Sept. 5.
