Quinn Ewers Says 'It Would Be Super Cool' to Play for Pete Carroll, Raiders in NFL

Quinn Ewers may have a preference for who takes him in April's NFL Draft.

The quarterback prospect spoke about his predraft process with NFL Network's Tom Pelissero on Friday's episode of The Rich Eisen Show and named Pete Carroll and the Las Vegas Raiders as a landing spot that could be a great fit for him.

"Coach Carroll would be awesome," Ewers said. "He's always talking about 'compete, compete, compete.' I think he says that word 100 times a day. I think it would be super cool to be part of a franchise that they live or die by how they compete. It doesn't matter what you are doing, if you are in the building, he said you are either competing or not. I think that's how I already live and it definitely would be cool."

Ewers is rated as the No. 108 overall prospect and the No. 6 quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft by Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department. He threw for 3,472 yards with 31 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while leading Texas to the College Football Playoff in the 2024 season.

He will likely have to wait to hear his name called at the NFL Draft, but could be a Day 2 pick if a team really likes him. Las Vegas is coming off of a 4-13 season but brought in Carroll as a new head coach and veteran Geno Smith to be the starting quarterback.

The acquisition of Smith casts some doubt on the team's chances to draft a quarterback in the first round, so Ewers as a later pick could be an intriguing option.

Smith is a former second-round pick who had a lengthy journey to becoming a solidified starter, so he may be a perfect mentor to a player like Ewers. On the flip side, Ewers could have time to develop while also not being a player the team invests significant draft capital in.

The 2025 NFL Draft is set for April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
