Browns, Giants Reportedly 'Working' Under the Assumption Titans Will Draft Cam Ward

Jack MurrayApr 11, 2025

The Cleveland Browns and New York Giants will not be shocked if quarterback Cam Ward is not available for them in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Zac Jackson of The Athletic reported that the two teams—who hold the No. 2 and No. 3 picks in the draft respectively—have assumed the Tennessee Titans would select Ward with the No. 1 pick.

"When the Titans canceled their private workouts with Hunter and Sanders, that sort of unofficially acknowledged that Tennessee is set with Ward at No. 1," Jackson wrote. "Multiple league sources believe the Browns and Giants had been working under that assumption for weeks."

Ward is rated as the No. 9 overall player and the No. 1 quarterback in the draft class by Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department. He threw for 4,313 yards with 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions while leading Miami to a 10-3 overall record. He was named the ACC Player of the Year and an All-American for his efforts.

The Titans appear set to select Ward and make him their franchise quarterback, which leaves the Giants and Browns to choose between the remaining quarterbacks or the top position players.

Two-way star Travis Hunter and edge rusher Abdul Carter take the top two spots in the draft class, per BR's NFL Scouting Department, while Shedeur Sanders is the second rated quarterback in the class. The Browns and Giants both held workouts for Sanders and the other quarterbacks on the draft board and the two teams met with both Hunter and Carter.

The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft is set for April 24 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
