NFL Personnel Reportedly See Jalen Hurts as Comp for Jaxson Dart Ahead of 2025 Draft

There are "a lot of people" in the NFL who believe the pro comp for Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart is Jalen Hurts, according to The Ringer's Todd McShay.

McShay shared the comparison during a Thursday appearance on The Rich Eisen Show (1:55 mark.)

McShay also compared Dart to Dak Prescott and Justin Herbert as quarterbacks with "sturdy build, stronger arms, and mobile."

NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah has also previously compared Dart to Hurts.

"Just in terms of the build, how the ball comes out of their hand... I know Jalen Hurts ran the ball more, but Jaxson Dart was successful running the ball in the SEC. He's very athletic," Jeremiah said during the NFL scouting combine in February.

Dart, who led the SEC with 4,279 passing yards and led the nation with 10.8 yards per pass attempt during his senior season for Ole Miss, meanwhile said at the combine he had tried to model his game after Hurts.

“I think it’s a little bit of a cop-out because he just won the Super Bowl, but I love J Hurts and what he does,” Dart said in February, per NBC Sports' Myle Simmons. “I feel like I’m very similar in my play style to him. I feel like we can do a lot of the same things.

“Obviously, he’s an elite player and I’m trying to reach that level. But he’s been somebody that I’ve tried to resemble my game after just because of his versatility, being able to run and throw the ball, and just how strong he is in the pocket. That’s something that I’ve had a lot of fun watching, observing his play style.”

Dart is listed as the No. 57 overall prospect on Bleacher Report's latest 2025 NFL Draft Big Board.

Although B/R ranks him as the No. 3 quarterback behind Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, McShay said he believes Dart could hear his name called before Sanders' when the draft kicks off on April 24 in Green Bay.
