POSITIVES

— Quick and a good overall athlete for an interior defender. Earned a 9.89 RAS at the NFL combine.

— Solid get-off and has the agility to be effective when slanting.

— Flashed a solid club-by move as a pass-rusher.

— Can be effective on line games as a pass-rusher. Movement skills allow him to take efficient paths at the looper, and he's physical as the pick player to free up teammates.

— Gets his hands up to bat passes at the line of scrimmage when he doesn't hit home as a pass-rusher.

NEGATIVES

— Plays high. Offensive linemen with good leverage will be able to push him around in the running game. Struggles to stay in his gap against double-teams or combo blocks.

— Late to recognize/see pullers against the run.

— Short arms and is late to get his hands up, allowing offensive linemen to make the first significant contact in both phases of the game. Also leads to him getting stuck on blocks.

— Doesn't work the offensive lineman's hands well as a pass-rusher.

— Needs to rush with a better plan and develop a countermove.

NOTES

— Born March 3, 2001

— 4-star recruit in the 2019 class, per 247Sports

— Injuries: 2024 (Offseason shoulder surgery, missed spring practice)

— 2024 Second-Team All-Big Ten

OVERALL

Ty Robinson is a draftable player based on the impressive movement skills he showed on tape and the athletic testing numbers he put up at the combine. That gives him the potential to contribute as an interior pass-rusher down the line. He's already effective on line games and has a decent club-by move to serve as his foundation.

However, Robinson struggles in the run game, has short arms and needs to improve his use of hands as a pass-rusher. While the latter can be developed, he's a sixth-year senior who still has this technique issue and might be limited given his lack of arm length.

Overall, the Nebraska product is worth taking a chance on in the later rounds of the draft, especially for an odd-front team that's looking for a 4i-technique.

GRADE: 5.8 (Backup/Draftable — 6th-7th Round)

OVERALL RANK: 251

POSITION RANK: DL25
