NFL Scout Says Jalen Milroe's 'Ceiling Is Too High to Ignore' Ahead of Draft

Paul KasabianApr 9, 2025

One NFL scout believes that Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe's "ceiling is too high to ignore" as the NFL draft rapidly approaches in a couple of weeks, per comments made to FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz.

"Milroe has interviewed well, and even some clubs who aren't run-heavy are intrigued. Several teams believe he's worth a pick somewhere in the 20-50 range due to his upside," Schultz wrote.

"He's one of those guys—if you see it, you go get him," a scout added to Schultz. "He might not start Day 1, but in this quarterback class, his ceiling is too high to ignore."

Last season, Milroe completed 64.3 percent of his passes for 2,844 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He starred on the ground, though, rushing for 726 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Milroe is ranked as the fifth overall quarterback and the No. 77 prospect in the NFL draft, per the B/R NFL Scouting Department.

B/R NFL Scout Dame Parson offered a pro comparison of "shades of Jalen Hurts with a jet pack & stronger arm" while noting him as a "young and developing talent with a high ceiling."

So that's obviously exciting. The downside right now is his work to do as a passer, particularly in the pocket. The arm talent is there, but he also has a penchant for turnovers and inaccurate throws.

Still, there's no doubting his incredible abilities. Fans saw them all on full display in September, when Alabama beat Georgia 41-34 behind Milroe's 374 passing yards, 117 rushing yards and four touchdowns (two passing, two rushing).

The talent is clearly there, and it's very possible some team wants to take a chance early, perhaps even in the back end of the first round. Even if he doesn't land there, it's possible he won't wait long on Day 2 to hear his name called.
