Rob Gronkowski Explains Viral 2006 Photo from Michigan vs. Ohio State Game in Video
Rob Gronkowski has plenty of viral photos from throughout his career and he finally gave an explanation for one of those photos recently.
On the Green Light with Chris Long podcast, Gronkowski explained the photo of him attending a Michigan vs. Ohio State football game in 2006.
“This is a special moment because you're the first person to ever ask me about this photo, even though this photo has surfaced the internet different times," he said. "…I went to Ohio State for a visit…I was like "Oh perfect I'm going to take a visit to Ohio State and go out with my buddies the night before and then go to the game. We go out until like 3:00 a.m to some frat houses, playing beer pong all that good stuff. I'll just say I was drinking water because I was only 18 years old at the time…I think we got in two fights as well…I wake up and I'm feeling like a disaster. I go to the game and someone takes a picture of me looking like that. So all that water that I drank got me feeling like that…The picture just took off and went all over the internet after I made it big in the NFL. It didn't go big until after I made it.”
The person next to him in the photo, Jeff Svoboda, also gave his side of the story:
Based on his explanation of the backstory behind the photo, it seems Gronkowski had plenty of fun on his visit to Ohio State, but he ultimately ended up playing college football at Arizona before his prolific NFL career.
Now retired, Gronkowski has plenty of time for podcast appearances, which almost always produce a new story.
