DaRon Bland, Cowboys Reportedly Agree to $92M Contract Extension After Parsons Trade
After a strong start to his career, DaRon Bland inked a new deal with the Dallas Cowboys.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Bland signed an four-year, $92 million extension—with $50 million guaranteed—that will keep him in Dallas through the 2029 season. The cornerback was previously on an expiring rookie deal.
This move comes just days after star linebacker Micah Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers after a contract dispute.

The Cowboys selected Bland in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL draft, and he quickly proved he should have been taken higher. As a rookie, he collected 54 tackles, five interceptions and seven passes defended, leading the team in interceptions and recording the second-most passes defended.
Bland followed his strong rookie campaign with an even better year in 2023. He racked up 69 tackles, nine interceptions and 15 passes defended. He led the league in interceptions and also set the record for the most interceptions returned for a touchdown with five. He also tied the record for defensive touchdowns in a season.
Unfortunately, after his first All-Pro and Pro Bowl season in 2023, Bland got hit with his first major injury. He suffered a stress fracture in training camp and started the year on injured reserve. He missed the first 10 games of the 2024 season and made his season debut in late November.
Despite playing just seven games, Bland still finished with decent numbers, recording 41 tackles, five passes defended and a forced fumble.
Contract talks took a while to get started between Bland and the Cowboys, but he said in April that he was more focused on the 2025 season than his extension.
"No talks. Just worried about the season right now," Bland said, per Tommy Yarrish of the team's website. "Really just play my heart out, try to do my best out there and do whatever I can."
Now, the Cowboys have secured their star cornerback for a few more years, and he'll look to continue shining in Dallas.
