Travis Hunter Looked 'Really, Really Explosive' at Colorado Pro Day, NFL Exec Says

Timothy RappApr 7, 2025

Travis Hunter clearly impressed at Colorado's pro day on Friday.

"[Hunter] is a great," an AFC executive told SI.com's Albert Breer. "He wasn't going to work out, he did and he looked great. Was out there with no gloves, looked fast, explosive, really, really explosive."

"His ball skills are rare, his burst, his acceleration, he can go from 100 to 0, it's just movement that's different than anyone else," that executive continued. "... He can do whatever he wants."

Another AFC executive said Hunter showed "natural, easy hands and really good feet," while Breer himself opined that he would be "surprised if Hunter makes it out of the first three picks and floored if he makes it past No. 4."

While there are questions about whether Hunter will focus primarily on wide receiver or cornerback at the next levelโ€”the general consensus is that NFL game-planning is far too complex and the sport far too physically demanding for him to play both ways, full time, at the next levelโ€”there's little doubt that he's considered one of the truly elite prospects available.

The B/R NFL Scouting Department ranked Hunter as the top prospect available on its latest big board, while ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. also has him at No. 1 and NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah has him No. 2 behind Penn State pass-rusher Abdul Carter.

Because the Tennessee Titans seem locked on Cam Ward as the top overall pickโ€”the Titans choosing to cancel their workout with Shedeur Sanders all but guaranteed as muchโ€”the watch for Hunter at the NFL draft later in April begins at No. 2, with the Cleveland Browns.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday that he believes that Hunter will end up in Cleveland:

Granted, it's smoke screen season, so if a team like the Browns or Giants takes a quarterback and the other selects Carter, it's possible that Hunter could fall to the New England Patriots at No. 4. It's hard to imagine he would be on the board beyond that point, however.
