Journalism Wins 2025 Santa Anita Derby, Full Results, Payouts and Order of Finish

Journalism is lighting the horse racing world on fire.

The three-year-old stallion utilized a late charge to top the field of five and win the 2025 Santa Anita Derby.

This was Journalism's fifth career race and second of 2025. He won the San Felipe States in March and is the current favorite to win the Kentucky Derby.

Due to a small field, the race had less points available for Kentucky Derby qualification. Journalism and Citizen Bull have already qualified for that field but Baeza has not quite reached that point yet.

Westwood was the long-shot favorite at 40-1 odds and led for the majority of the race. Journalism spent most of the race at the back of the pack but pulled away on the last push to secure the win.

Journalism finished with a time of 1:49.56, which was slower than his time at the San Felipe Stakes.

The 2025 Kentucky Derby will take place May 3.
