Fans were shocked by John Cena's heel turn at Elimination Chamber last month, and it turns out the mere idea of making Cena a villain raised some eyebrows backstage as well.

Speaking this week with Alex McCarthy of the Daily Mail, WWE head of creative Triple H commented on Cena's reaction when the possibility of turning heel was brought up, saying: "It was a conversation that when it was brought up, everybody… I think in John's mind he was like, 'Wow, I didn't think you were going to say that. I love it.' It’s a challenge to him. John's not a complacent person."

Triple H went on to compare the heel turn to an actor taking on a role that is new or challenging to them, saying:

"At a certain point in time they come and they give you something way off something you’ve ever done and you're like, 'Wow, alright, that's a challenge I've never done before.' That energizes you and gets your creative juices going… This is going to be special because John is lit up about it. We're lit up about it. It's going to be incredible."

After Cena won the men's Elimination Chamber match to earn a WWE Championship bout against Rhodes at WrestleMania 41, he surprisingly attacked Rhodes and aligned himself with The Rock.

Over the past few weeks on Raw, Cena has explained his actions by faulting the fans for the way they have treated him over the years.

Rhodes has been dismissive of Cena's feelings, and he even accused the 16-time world champion of being dishonest about why he did what he did.

Cena and Rhodes stepped to each other this week on Raw, and while Cena was about to walk away, Cody grabbed him and hit him with Cross Rhodes.

That suggests Cena could be out for revenge over the next few weeks leading up to WrestleMania, and if he gets it, that could go a long way toward cementing his status as a hated heel even more.

Rhodes Talks Getting Payback Against Travis Scott

If and when rapper Travis Scott returns to WWE programming, he may be firmly in Cody Rhodes' crosshairs.

In an interview with Complex's Ben Felderstein this week, Rhodes said the following when asked if he was looking to make Scott pay for attacking him at Elimination Chamber: "I am not mad so much, but I am looking, and my eyes are open for what we inevitably, what we'll call a 'receipt.' If Travis Scott ever makes his way back into the WWE fray, maybe there's a receipt for Travis."

At Elimination Chamber, Rhodes was on hand to provide The Rock with an answer regarding whether he would sell his soul to The Final Boss.

Cena was also in the ring after winning the men's Elimination Chamber match, and The Rock was accompanied to the ring by Scott.

When Rhodes emphatically declined The Rock's offer, Cena hit Rhodes with a low blow at The Rock's behest, and Cody was suddenly the target of a three-on-one beat down.

At one point, it appeared Scott legitimately punched Rhodes in the face, and when The American Nightmare was next seen on WWE programming, he was sporting a black eye.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t WrestlePurists) reported that it was believed Scott was indeed the one responsible for giving Rhodes a black eye.

Meltzer (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats) also reported that Scott received "all kinds of heat backstage" for his recklessness during the historic segment.

Although Scott may have gotten a bit carried away, The Rock suggested after Elimination Chamber that Scott would perhaps get in the ring and have some matches in the future.

Fightful Select (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News) also reported that Scott has been doing some wrestling training, and conversations have taken place regarding him having matches.

If that comes to fruition, Rhodes may get the opportunity to get some payback on Scott in the form of a stiff punch.

Lynch's Reported WrestleMania 41 Status

There is reportedly still no confirmed date or location for Becky Lynch to make her long-awaited return to WWE programming.

On Monday night, Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News) said he has "not heard anything" regarding Lynch being part of the WrestleMania 41 card.

Sapp added that while "things were pitched" involving Lynch at WrestleMania, he doesn't know what happened on that front.

Shortly after dropping the Women's World Championship to Liv Morgan last year, Lynch's WWE contract reportedly expired on June 1.

However, it was later reported in January that she had inked a new deal with WWE, which tracked with Lynch being included in promotional material for the Raw debut on Netflix.

There was plenty of speculation regarding The Man being on the Netflix debut episode of Raw or in the women's Royal Rumble match, but neither of those things came to fruition.

Given that much of the WrestleMania card has likely been in place for quite some time, the delay in bringing Lynch back may be a case of not wanting to re-introduce her until after WrestleMania.

That could make her a prime candidate to make her surprise return on the post-WrestleMania edition of Raw, which is always viewed as the most exciting and unpredictable Raw of the year.

Even if she doesn't have a match, appearing at WrestleMania 41 may not be out of the question either since it would be arguably the most impactful way possible to bring her back into the fold.

Lynch is one of the most accomplished and popular women's Superstars in WWE history, so whenever the company decides re-integrate her, it will have a massive impact on the product.
