Woody Johnson Says Aaron Rodgers on Jets Was 'Good Experiment' That 'Didn't Work Out'
The New York Jets made a splash before the 2023 season when they brought in Aaron Rodgers to be their next quarterback, but the four-time MVP didn't accomplish much in his two seasons with the team.
Reflecting on Rodgers' time in New York, owner Woody Johnson said the potential for success was there, but nothing ever came of it.
“The experiment was a good experiment, to bring him in, but it just didn't work out, as you can see," Johnson said, per ESPN's Rich Cimini. "I have a lot of respect for Aaron Rodgers. He is a great player, a Hall of Famer player. I'm sorry it didn't work out.”

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Rodgers was traded to the Jets during the 2023 offseason and brought plenty of hype with him. He was just a season removed from winning his second consecutive MVP and came to New York hoping to turn things around.
Just a few offensive snaps into his Jets debut against the Buffalo Bills, Rodgers ruptured his Achilles, forcing him to miss the remainder of the season.
After losing the 2023 season due to the injury, New York hoped to get a big year from Rodgers in 2024. He put up decent numbers, collecting 3,897 passing yards and 28 touchdowns, but it didn't lead to success as the Jets went 5-12.
Now, the 41-year-old Rodgers is a free agent following his release from the Jets and is searching for his next team. Whatever team takes a chance on him will hope for better results than New York got.
