What Is Dak Prescott's Injury Status? Rumors on Cowboys QB's Timeline vs. Eagles

Joseph ZuckerNov 20, 2025

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is likely to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Prescott was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice because of a hip issue. Schefter downplayed the extent of the injury, echoing comments from Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

"Hard to imagine he's going to miss the game Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles at home," the NFL insider said Thursday on SportsCenter. "So, even though Dak was limited yesterday, he is expected to be out there Sunday."

Prescott is coming off a 2024 season in which a hamstring injury kept him out for the final nine games. He had surgery to repair the hamstring last November.

Dallas missed the playoffs last year and in 2020, and both of those campaigns saw Prescott miss the majority of the regular season. It largely goes without saying that any postseason ambitions for 2025 hinge largely on whether he stays healthy.

That became even more true when the Micah Parsons trade weakened a defense that wasn't elite to begin with.

Prescott is in the midst of one of his better seasons. Through 10 games, he has thrown for 2,587 passing yards and 21 touchdowns to six interceptions.

Despite his performance, Dallas is only 4-5-1 and on the outside of the NFC playoff picture. Remove Prescott from the equation for an extended stretch and things could get very bad very fast.

The team doesn't even have longtime backup Cooper Rush anymore. He signed a two-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens to sit second in the depth chart behind Lamar Jackson.

That leaves Joe Milton III as the next man up if needed. Milton was consistently inconsistent as a college starter at Michigan and Tennessee, and the New England Patriots were willing to cut bait only one year after picking him in the draft.

Even if all of Dallas' key players stay on the field, the roster simply may not be good enough to secure a playoff berth. Should the Cowboys be pressed to make a QB change through injury, their outlook becomes even more grim.
