Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
McCord is ranked as the No. 91 overall prospect on Bleacher Report's latest 2025 NFL Draft Big Board.
B/R NFL scout Dame Parson describes McCord as "a pocket quarterback who thrives on being well-timed and accurate with his passes."
McCord led the nation with 4,779 passing yards, and ranked fourth with 34 touchdown passes, while leading Syracuse to 10 wins in 2024.
Parson, who projects McCord as third-round pick, grades him as high-level backup and potential starter in the NFL.
The Saints could be looking for more depth under center next fall after Derek Carr led the team to a 5-5 record when available in 2024.
New Orleans recently indicated the team would be sticking with Carr by restructuring his contract to move some of his money into future years and clear up cap space in 2025, ESPN's Katherine Terrell reported on March 8.
According to Terrell, "several NFL sources believe that Carr was open to testing the market in recent weeks... but the Saints showed no outward desire to trade or cut him."
Even if running things back with Carr for Week 1, the Saints may want another backup option and potential future starter outside Spencer Rattler heading into 2025.
ESPN's Matt Miller, who predicted New Orleans will use the No. 40 pick to select Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers in a recent mock draft, wrote that "there's a sense around the league that he's a placeholder while the Saints draft their QB of the future."
Thursday's workout could potentially help the Saints decide whether McCord will be that quarterback.
After using the ninth pick of the first round, the Saints are set to draft at No. 40, No. 71 and No. 93 during Rounds 2 and 3 of the upcoming NFL draft in Green Bay.
