Roger Federer vs. Gilles Simon: Score, Reaction from 2015 Wimbledon
Roger Federer eased past Gilles Simon into the semi-final of Wimbledon 2015 on Wednesday, winning his quarter-final in three sets, 6-3, 7-5, 6-2. Simon managed to end Federer's impressive unbroken streak but never looked capable of upsetting the seven-time Wimbledon champion.
Rain delayed the match on several occasions, but it couldn't break Federer's focus as he played a simple yet masterful game of tennis. On current form, he has to like his chances of grabbing a record eighth win at All England Club.
Wimbledon's official YouTube channel uploaded this preview of Wednesday's match, with all analysts agreeing Federer wouldn't have too much trouble against an in-form Simon:

The start of the match was pushed back several times due to rain, and just three games into their clash, Federer and Simon were once again forced to leave the court, per BBC Tennis:
At the time, Federer was already up 3-0. The seven-time Wimbledon champion has been in fantastic form all week and didn't drop a beat during the first set, using his superb serve and strong passing shots to make quick work of his opponent.
Simon has also been in excellent form and showed some moments of brilliance, but early on, there was just no stopping Federer. The veteran came into the match having won all of his serve games since the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, and per ESPN's Kevin Negandhi, he continued that incredible streak during Wednesday's first set:
After the break, Federer simply served out the first set in comfortable fashion, and with Andy Murray looking equally dominant during the first set of his match against Vasek Pospisil, SNY.tv's Adam Zagoria started getting excited:
Simon looked overwhelmed in the first set, but the Frenchman gathered his thoughts during the break and came out with renewed energy in the second. Federer put tremendous pressure on the unfancied Simon with his return game, but his opponent kept things together and managed to battle his way out of difficult spots until the seventh game.
FedExpress finally broke Simon's serve in the seventh, and fans at Court No. 1 assumed the set was all but over. However, Simon shocked everyone by breaking back in the 10th game with a handful of fantastic winners. Federer's unbroken streak finally came to an end, to the disappointment of the Wall Street Journal's Tom Perrotta:
Simon was unable to build on his momentum, however, as Federer broke serve again before the heavens opened. SI Tennis' Courtney Nguyen had an explanation:
After another lengthy delay, Federer served out the second set with ease. Bet365 joined in with the excitement over a possible clash between Federer and Murray:
In the third set, Federer continued his excellent play, and while he took his foot of the gas at times, he kept picking his moments to strike to perfection. A quick break gave him a comfortable lead he never relinquished, and after another break, he served out the match to book his spot in the semi-finals.
Per tennis blogger Luigi Gatto, the Swiss veteran set a new record with his win over Simon:
As shared by the event's official Twitter account, Federer stated he was happy his play didn't suffer from the multitude of rain delays:
Federer's unbroken streak may have come to an end on Wednesday, but his quarter-final win was another masterful performance. Save a few instances of carelessness, his play was as clean as a whistle, and it's almost as if his serve continues to get better with age.
A possible semi-final clash with Murray should excite fans all over the world, as both have been in excellent form. If the two do end up meeting on Friday, it will be one match you just can't afford to miss.
