Russell Wilson's Giants Contract Gets Mixed Reviews From NFL Fans After Rodgers Rumors

Andrew PetersMar 25, 2025

The New York Giants have found their next quarterback.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Giants and Russell Wilson reached agreement on a one-year deal worth up to $21 million with $10.5 million guaranteed.

The contract comes after weeks of rumors surrounding Wilson and Aaron Rodgers. Ultimately, New York opted for Wilson.

After the deal, the Giants drew mixed reviews for the addition of Wilson.

Wilson isn't the MVP candidate he once was but he put together a decent season in 2024 with 2,482 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in 11 games, earning a Pro Bowl nod.

The deal comes just days after the Giants signed Jameis Winston to a two-year, $8 million deal. Winston, who has spent most of his career as a backup quarterback, will presumably take on the same role in New York.

Signing Wilson is certainly an interesting move, but one that could pay off.

The Giants now have some flexibility heading into the draft as they don't have to use their No. 3 pick on a quarterback. Instead, they could use it on a talent like two-way star Travis Hunter.

The pairing of Hunter and standout rookie Malik Nabers could work out no matter who the quarterback is, and a veteran like Wilson seems like a safe option.
