Seth Rollins Beats CM Punk, Roman Reigns with Heyman's Help at WWE WrestleMania 41
Seth Rollins beat CM Punk and Roman Reigns in a Triple Threat grudge match in the main event of Night 1 of WrestleMania 41 on Saturday.
After appearing to side with Punk by handing him a steel chair, Paul Heyman turned on The Best in the World with a low blow and seemed to align himself with Reigns.
However, The Wise Man also delivered a low blow to The Original Tribal Chief and linked up with Rollins.
With the assist from Heyman, The Visionary was able to pin Reigns and win the match.
The rivalry between Reigns, Punk and Rollins has been bubbling underneath the surface for months, and it can be argued the foundation of it goes back several years.
Punk battled Reigns and Rollins when they were part of The Shield during his first WWE stint, while The Architect was responsible for breaking up The Shield by stabbing Reigns and Dean Ambrose in the back.
Old wounds were reopened when Reigns became one of the most dominant champions in WWE history as the leader of The Bloodline, and also when Punk made his surprise return to WWE at Survivor Series in 2023 nearly a decade after he left the company.
When The Second City Saint showed up in November 2023, Rollins was clearly furious, which led to a heated feud between them.
Punk vs. Rollins may have been the plan for WrestleMania 40, but the former tore his triceps in the 2024 men's Royal Rumble match, which caused a delay.
Punk returned in the summer of 2024, and although he initially had a series of matches against Drew McIntyre, he eventually set his sights back on Rollins.
On the debut episode of Raw on Netflix back in January, he beat Rollins in a singles match, giving him a ton of momentum entering the Royal Rumble.
Just over a month before that, Punk formed a reluctant alliance with Reigns due to Reigns' special counsel and Punk's longtime friend, Heyman, recruiting The Best in the World to be part of The OTC's WarGames team.
Reigns and Punk led their team to victory, but it came at a potential cost since Punk made it clear Heyman owed him a favor in exchange for his help.
During the latter stages of the men's Royal Rumble match; Reigns, Punk and Rollins were all still alive, but Punk dumped both Reigns and Rollins over the top rope at the same time.
Punk was thrown out seconds later and chaos ensued, as Rollins stomped Reigns' head onto the steel stairs and got into a brawl with Punk.
Rollins and Punk aimed to settle their score with a steel cage match on Raw last month, but Reigns made his surprise return by interfering in the contest.
The Tribal Chief brutally attacked Rollins outside the ring and then speared Punk when Heyman checked on his well-being.
All three top-end stars had plenty of incentive to win on The Grandest Stage of Them All and get the better of their rivals, but it was Rollins who had the last laugh.
