Aaron Rodgers Rumors: 'Safe Bet' QB Signs Steelers Contract After Free-Agency Visit

There's belief that Aaron Rodgers will sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Florio reported Sunday that it’s a "safe bet" that the 41-year-old eventually agrees to a contract with Pittsburgh.

The veteran quarterback had a "positive visit" with the Steelers at their training facility on Friday that lasted "about six hours," per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Rodgers started 17 games for the New York Jets in 2024 before he was officially released by the team on March 12.

He completed 63 percent of his throws for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions last season, but his 48.0 QBR ranked No. 25 among 32 qualified signal-callers.

Pittsburgh's desire to add Rodgers has seemingly increased following the meeting, with ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reporting that the team is "aggressively pursuing" the four-time MVP.

Russell Wilson closed out the 2024 season as the Steelers' starter and remains a free agent, but a reunion doesn't appear to be highly likely. Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reported March 11 that Pittsburgh hadn't spoken to Wilson regarding a new contract.

The Steelers made the playoffs with a 10-7 record before losing in the Wild Card round, but they owned the sixth-worst passing attack in the NFL. They've already attempted to address the issue by trading for two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver D.K. Metcalf on March 9.

As Rodgers searches for a new home in free agency, he appears to be enticed by the opportunity to start under center for a Pittsburgh team attempting to clinch a third consecutive playoff berth in 2025.
