Giants Rumors: NY Hasn't Given Up on Aaron Rodgers Despite Jameis Deal, Steelers Buzz

Doric SamMar 23, 2025

Following Aaron Rodgers' visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday, it appears that there's momentum toward him landing in the Steel City, but another team reportedly hasn't stopped its pursuit of the 41-year-old.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on Sunday's episode of SportsCenter that the New York Giants "have not given up on Aaron Rodgers even though they signed Jameis Winston." Fowler went on to add, "But reading the tea leaves here, it looks like the Steelers are in pole position to potentially get this done."

The Giants signed Winston to a two-year, $8 million deal on Friday, just hours after Rodgers' meeting with the Steelers. New York also hosted veteran free-agent quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Joe Flacco and pursued a deal for Matthew Stafford before he ultimately chose to remain with the Los Angeles Rams.

While Rodgers seems to be a long shot for the Giants at this point, they will likely continue adding to their quarterback room this offseason. New York owns the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL draft and could have a shot at a top signal-caller like Miami's Cam Ward or Colorado's Shedeur Sanders.

As for Rodgers, Fowler predicted that he will land in Pittsburgh because the franchise is all-in on signing him this offseason.

"He had a good meeting on Friday with the Steelers. It was sort of exploratory in nature. They weren't really talking brass tacks as far a contract, but they've already made a standing offer out to him," Fowler said. "So, I'm going to go Aaron Rodgers to the Steelers here if I had to predict because I just simply believe that the team is aggressive here. He's their No. 1 choice as it stands."
