Tanner Bibee, Guardians Agree to Reported 5-Year, $48M Contract; Includes Club Option

Tanner Bibee will be a fixture in the Cleveland Guardians' starting rotation for the next several seasons.

The team announced on social media that it had extended the right-handed pitcher through 2029 with a club option for 2030.

Zach Meisel of The Athletic reported that the deal contains a $2 million signing bonus and then an ascending salary throughout the duration of the deal.

Bibee was set to hit arbitration following the 2025 season but will now be in Cleveland for at least one season beyond his arbitration years.

Bibee went 12-8 with a 3.47 ERA in 31 starts for the Guardians in 2024. It was his second Major League season and he will hope to keep improving and serve as a key front-of-rotation starter.

Cleveland went 92-69 and won the AL Central last season. The Guardians then advanced to the ALCS but fell to the New York Yankees.

With tough competitors like the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers in the division, securing Bibee's services at a reasonable rate will help the Guardians continue to compete.
