Winston seemingly confirmed the news on social media:
The Giants "remain involved" in negotiations with free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero wrote earlier Friday. Rodgers is also reportedly considering an offer from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After the Winston signing, New York "remains open to adding another QB through free agency or the draft," according to Pelissero.
The Giants currently hold the No. 3 selection in the draft. The franchise has been connected to Cam Ward, who is expected to be the first quarterback selected in the upcoming draft, as well as with Shedeur Sanders.
ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported after the NFL scouting combine earlier this month that multiple sources believed it was "likely" the Giants would trade up for the Tennessee Titans' No. 1 pick, and that in that case the franchise would target Ward.
Adding both Winston and a prospect like Ward would match what general manager Joe Schoen told reporters in February, when he said he would "like to have a vet in the room" if drafting a young quarterback.
Winston stepped in for an injured Deshaun Watson to start seven straight games for the Browns last season before he was sidelined by an injury of his own.
Although Winston threw 12 interceptions to 13 touchdown passes last season, the Giants could hope pairing him up with Nabers will give the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints quarterback a shot at improving his accuracy in 2025.
Tommy DeVito was the only quarterback on the Giants' roster heading into Friday. How the rest of the depth chart shakes out before the start of next season will depend on both Rodgers' decision and how the Giants use their No. 3 pick.
