Zach Wilson Opens Up on 'Challenging' Jets Tenure, Calls Dolphins a 'Great Fit'
Miami Dolphins quarterback Zach Wilson reflected on the tumultuous first three years of his career that he spent with the New York Jets.
"It was challenging," Wilson said on the Drive Time Podcast, via David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel (h/t NFL.com's Kevin Patra). "There's things, looking back, I wish I could've done so much better, maybe would've approached differently, but I think, at the end of the day, it's all part of the story. Learning from those experiences and those hard times ultimately is what got me here and hopefully being able to take advantage of the opportunity here."

He was also excited to get to work within Miami's explosive passing attack.
"I think it's going to be a great fit with what I'm looking for, the type of offense, the amount of information I'll be able to learn from these guys," Wilson said. "I think it couldn't have been a better match."
The Jets selected Wilson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. The 25-year-old dealt with inconsistency throughout his first two years in New York, completing 55.2 percent of his throws for 4,022 yards and 15 touchdowns compared to 18 interceptions in 22 appearances.
Wilson was thrust into a starting role once again in 2023 after Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in Week 1, but he didn't fare much better.
The former BYU standout averaged 189.3 passing yards per game and tossed eight touchdowns while getting picked off seven times in 12 games following Rodgers' injury.
New York eventually traded Wilson and a seventh-round pick to the Denver Broncos in exchange for a sixth-round selection in April 2024. He didn't see any action during his lone year in Denver, as rookie Bo Nix started all 17 regular-season games.
Wilson is expected to operate as a backup once again after signing a one-year contract worth $6 million with the Dolphins, sitting behind Tua Tagovailoa on their depth chart.
As the signal-caller enters his first year with Miami, he's putting his past with the team's AFC East rival behind him.
