DK Metcalf Reflects on Seahawks-Steelers Trade: 'Grass Is Greener on The Other Side'
The Seattle Seahawks traded DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason for a 2025 second-round pick, and the star wideout seems plenty excited for that change of scenery.
"I had a chance to play with some great players, man. From [Russell Wilson] to [Bobby Wagner] to [Marshawn Lynch]. [Tyler Lockett] as well," he said on Thursday's Get Got Pod with Marshawn Lynch and Mike Robinson (5:35 mark). "Got a chance to meet some greats like Cam Chancellor, you know, Richard Sherman. But you know, it's just time for me to move on. I think the grass is greener on the other side."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
His wallet is certainly greener after the Steelers signed him to a five-year, $150 million extension.
Metcalf did say that he would have wanted to finish his career in Seattle.
"Loyalty is a big thing to me," he added (14:44 mark). "... I'm not just talking about loyalty to a team, I'm talking about loyalty to everything. To everything I put my heart in. When I'm working out, I'm not just working out for myself or to look good, I got to work out to make sure I'm there for my brothers on Sunday. To make sure you know I can do my job to the best of my ability. When I'm studying film. So loyalty goes further than putting on a jersey for me, it's just being there for your teammates no matter what. The loyalty aspect, I don't think people take that to heart anymore. Like I don't think people feel like they have to be loyal to nobody but themselves and I think that's that's the world we live in right now."
Seattle has made some drastic changes this offseason, trading Metcalf and quarterback Geno Smith and letting Tyler Lockett walk in free agency. They did sign Sam Darnold and Cooper Kupp, however, though it's fair to question whether that's an upgrade for the passing game.
Metcalf, 27, is a two-time Pro Bowler who has registered three 1,000-yard seasons and two campaigns with double-digit touchdowns. He didn't do either in 2024, however, catching 66 passes for 992 yards and five touchdowns.
Still, his addition should significantly bolster a Pittsburgh passing game that was devoid of playmakers outside of George Pickens.
The question for the Steelers is who will be throwing the ball to that pair, with Justin Fields leaving for the New York Jets and Russell Wilson still a free agent. Quarterback remains the biggest question mark in Pittsburgh.
In that regard, the grass may not end up being greener, at least in 2025.
