Ja'Marr Chase Posts Cryptic 'Know Your Worth' Photo Amid Bengals Contract Rumors

Taylyn Hadley Mar 10, 2025

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase shared a cryptic message on social media that read, "Know your worth. Then add tax."

Chase's post comes amid ongoing speculation about a potential contract extension as he becomes eligible for a new deal this offseason.

The 25-year-old is projected to earn $40 million or more per year on his next contract, with a realistic expectation of securing a four-year, $164 million deal this offseason, per Sports Illustrated's James Rapien.

The Triple Crown wide receiver earned the title after leading the league in three major categories—127 receptions, 1,708 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns—becoming just the sixth receiver to accomplish the feat.

Despite his standout season, Chase is currently set to earn $21.8 million in the upcoming season, a figure likely to change if he and the Bengals can agree on a long-term deal.

Chase and the Bengals have been discussing discrepancies since last season when the star wide receiver sat out of training camp practices in an attempt to secure a new deal. While a contract never materialized, the Bengals exercised his fifth-year option.

Ongoing contract negotiations between the Bengals and their two star wide receivers, Chase and Tee Higgins, have continued to be the hot topic all offseason, with Chase emphasizing that he wants "what's fair."

"At the end of the day, I just hope I get what's fair," Chase told ESPN's Laura Rutledge in February. "...Hopefully I don't put too much pressure on anybody, but I just want it to be fair, that's all."

The question on everybody's mind as negotiations continue: What is fair?

"Fair is what I deserve," Chase responded to the question. "I can't really say everything I want to say. It's what I deserve, it's what I've worked for, how hard I worked for. It's a written story already. It should be fair change."
