Spillane spent the last two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. He notably spent the 2018 season with the Tennessee Titans under new Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel.
Spillane recorded 158 total tackles with two sacks and two interceptions in 2024 for the Raiders. He joins linebacker Harold Landry, cornerback Carlton Davis III and right tackle Morgan Moses as the newest Patriots so far in the free-agent class.
New England will be looking to upgrade its roster this offseason. The Patriots are coming off a second consecutive 4-13 season and will have their third head coach in the last three seasons in 2025.
While the roster has some depth issues, the presence of quarterback Drake Maye and cornerback Christian Gonzalez gives the team some promising young talent, and the numerous additions on Monday should help the franchise be more competitive in 2025. New England also holds the No. 4 pick in the 2025 NFL draft and entered free agency with the most cap space in the NFL.
