NFL Rumors: Justin Fields to Test FA Market amid Steelers Contract Talks, Jets Buzz
Justin Fields will reportedly negotiate with opposing teams in free agency before making a decision regarding a return to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Fields has discussed a reunion with the Steelers and both sides "have been open to it." The quarterback wants to test the market before potentially re-signing with Pittsburgh, though.
Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that the Steelers "remain interested" in Fields and the New York Jets are also expected to show "strong interest" in him.

Pittsburgh acquired the 26-year-old in a March 2024 trade with the Chicago Bears.
Fields started the first six games of the 2024 season for the Steelers as Russell Wilson dealt with a calf injury, making 10 total appearances with the team. He finished with a record of 4-2 as a starter.
The former first-round pick completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns compared to just one interception. Fields also rushed for 289 yards and five more touchdowns on 62 attempts.
He previously expressed a desire to return to Pittsburgh.
"I want to be here," Fields told Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com at the end of the regular season (h/t SI.com's Noah Strackbein). "I’m kind of tired of learning a new offense every year. This will be my third in four years."
The Jets aren't expected to be the only potential suitor for Fields on the free-agent market, with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting that "a number of teams" will be interested in the signal-caller.
The Indianapolis Colts are also expected to include the passer as one of the "names on their radar," according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
While a return to the Steelers remains a possibility for Fields, he's also prepared to discuss potential offers with other front offices at the outset of free agency.
