Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Bradberry was set to count more than $5.1 million against the 2025 cap thanks to the void years on the contract he signed with the Eagles two years ago.
The Eagles will take on more than $3 million in dead cap by releasing him while saving $2.1 million, per Over the Cap.
Bradberry's agent will be allowed to negotiate with other teams before the release becomes official, per Fowler.
Bradberry, who began his NFL career with the Carolina Panthers and New York Giants, joined the Eagles on a one-year deal following his 2022 release by the Giants.
The Eagles inked him to a three-year deal the next offseason after he and Darius Slay helped Philadelphia make it to the Super Bowl by spearheading one of the NFL's best passing defenses.
Bradberry made 16 starts during the 2023 season but struggled on the outside and was considered a candidate to be cut ahead of Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean's rookie 2024 seasons.
After preparing to transition from outsider corner to safety in order to slot in on the crowded roster, Bradberry made it past the final day of roster cuts. The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane reported at the time that the Eagles had spoken with teams including the Tennessee Titans about a possible trade.
McLane went on to write that the Eagles had not yet found a trade partner in part because "Bradberry’s transition to safety has been slow and he’s not viewed as an outside CB by most anymore."
Bradberry suffered his lower-leg injury one day later, ending any question of a trade.
Placed on injured reserve Aug. 29 and initially expected to miss six to eight weeks, Bradberry ended up sitting out the entire 2024 season.
Bradberry told the Philadelphia Inquirer's Olivia Reiner that he had transitioned to a "player-coach" role as a veteran in the locker room amid his injury.
Just before the injury, McLane reported former Eagles defensive backs coach and current Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson was a "fan" of Bradberry.
Bradberry could now see if the Wilson connection is enough to encourage the Titans to take a chance on his ability to bounce back from injury next season.
